Event story
DTLA Proud Festival
Downtown Los Angeles
Downtown Los Angeles
DTLA Proud is a three-day downtown celebration — music, community programming, and a festival grid that fills and empties in waves. Two machines beat one overloaded cabinet when gates, bars, and vendor rows pull in different directions.
We split coverage so guests near the stage and guests in the vendor blocks were not sharing a single queue. Both units were loaded for a multi-day run and watched overnight; a downtown festival does not pause because a cassette hit empty at 11 p.m.
The brief was the same as the organizer’s: keep the event usable. Visibility, volunteerism, and community only work if people can buy food and merch without leaving the block. That is the rental we still staff for civic festivals in DTLA.
